terms of use
last updated october 18, 2026
these terms cover spooky.mov, its api and everything else at spooky.mov (the service). using it means you agree to them. if you don’t, please don’t use it.
the service
- spooky.mov is a free horror movie recommender run by one person. it’s provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and it may change, break or go away at any time.
- recommendations are opinions, not facts.
your account and keys
- you’re responsible for what’s done with your account and your api keys. keep keys private and revoke any you think have leaked.
- one account per person. you can delete yours at any time from your account page, and that deletes your data.
no scraping, and other things not to do
- don’t scrape, crawl, mirror, harvest or bulk-download the site, its pages, its api or its recommendations, by any means (scripts, headless browsers, automated agents or people), beyond what robots.txt and agents.txt allow, or what the mcp server offers within its limits.
- don’t use the service or anything it returns to build, train, tune or test another recommender, dataset or model.
- don’t resell, sublicense, republish or repackage the service or its data.
- don’t get around rate limits, budgets, access controls or sign-in, and don’t use someone else’s account or keys.
- don’t send traffic meant to harm the service or other people, or fake watches meant to sway what others are recommended.
- don’t break the law, or the terms of the services spooky.mov is built on.
the api
- the api is for telling spooky.mov about your own watches, on your own account.
- stay within the limits on the api page. keys that don’t may be throttled, suspended or revoked.
- it’s alpha: it may change or stop, with or without notice.
content and data
- film data comes from tmdb. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- what you send stays yours. it’s used to make your recommendations; your account page says how reviews are used.
ending things
access may be suspended or ended for anyone who breaks these terms.
liability
as far as the law allows, spooky.mov and its owner aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any amount at all: the service is free.
changes
these terms may change; the date above says when they last did. using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
